So, I have the fork apart. It was set at 80mm travel, and I would like to knock it up to 100mm
There are two spacers near the top-out spring, and when I remove one, it will allow for 100mm.
Question is, do I need to re-position this spacer elsewhere in the fork leg? Or, do I simply remove it?
I know in some Marz. (e.g. 05 Freeride 3's ) that the spacer was removed from the top-out assembly, and then used as a necessary preload spacer on the coil, just below the top cap. Hmm.
Does it stay, or does it go? Anyone know?
Other than that, it is about as simple as a fork can be to work on - there isn't even oil in it. Just grease!
notes
Marz. website no longer has the Extended User Manuals
Yes, it is adjustable from 80 to 100 and vice versa - this is not some imaginary mod.
No, the lack of oil is not a mistake. That is how the DJ3's come, and how they are supposed to be.
Cheers for anyone's help!

Are you sure the travel is adjusted by removing this spacer? All the Marz forks I've owned, which is now three, you adjust the travel externally by adjusting the springs and air pressure. I even just checked my Bomber manual that I have, only one I've got to hand is 2006 though - so they might have drastically changed in two years?

Thanks for the quick reply. I am fairly certain that the travel is adjusted internally with the 08 DJ3's. The only external adjustment to be made, is a mechanical preload. It is just under a little black rubber cap, at the top of the fork leg. Remove the rubber, and use a hex wrench to adjust a bolt, more or less, that pushes down upon the spring, providing more or less preload. Other than that, there are no adjustments to be made externally.
Can't believe that I can't find a blow up of my model fork i.e. the service manual. Tried emailing both Marz Can. and Marz. USA to no avail. Yet. Maybe they will get back to me in time.
Anywho..
Thanks all the same for the reply.

Link
Click that link, it's the owners manual to the 08 DJ3 forks. See if that helps! Just downloaded it myself to make sure it works.
If not, http://www.marzocchi.com/Template/listManuals.asp?t=dirt+jumper+3&tp=113&idMY=55897&Azione=Search&IDFolder=126&LN=UK&idC=1638 that's the search I did, then click on English. It's a pdf file.

crunchss,
Cheers. Unfortunately, that is only the owners manual. It has torques and all that jazz, but nothing in regards to the insides of the fork. I've (I think) scoured the Marz site, and that was all I had come up with too.
On that link you referred to, it looks they they had an 'Extended User Manual', over to the right, but then removed it (?). Now, it is just the Owner's Manual: how to remove the wheel, install the fork on a bike etc.
Think I'll take it apart again, take some pics, and post those here. Could help. Takes all of about 10 minutes with this fork.
edit:
Okay, here we go. Click on the individual pic for description.

just need to take the spacer out..dont need to put it somewhere else..fork knocks more when extended..had to put more oil in..2005 model with oil..lbs rang marz. to get info

Uphill sucks,
Thanks for the reply.
I actually tried what you said just a few days ago. The knocking that I heard made me change it back. I now have the spacer at the top of the spring. I just don't know if it is better above the spring or below, and which side goes up, as that spacer is not symetrical.
The reason I didn't leave it with just the spring removed, is that the first 20mm or so felt like nothing, like the spring was just knocking around in there.
I think the spacer needs to be in there ???
Just wish Marz would have the relevant documents available..

You need to put the spacer back in on the top for it to work so that it give the 'push up' so that the forks have the 20mm more travel as if you leave them they may go higher but there is 20mm missing so they will drop right away. I changed the travel on my 55r's when i had them (before the bike they where on was nicked) and all i done was remove the sprig side take the spacer from the bottom which is pushing the legs of the forks down and put it on the top to push them up and this worked perfect and saves the hole £50 i think it is to get Marzocchi to change it for you and thats without post to the place.

Hi People, I got a 2014 Marzocchi and it works good, but I have to service it two from two weeks because it starts to be a lot stiffer. The suspension don't have oil levels, it's just clean and put grease on it.
Anyone knows if its possible to change the pring on it?
